Review:

Advanced Circuits is a family-friendly Puzzle game released on the Nintendo DSi via the DSiWare service in 2010, and later grandfathered into the Nintendo 3DS eShop when the Nintendo 3DS released, with a version coming to mobile devices in 2012. In this game, players use the touchscreen to draw a path that connects the tracks on the screen to form one loop that covers every square on a grid.

The presentation here is simple but not unappealing, using 2D visuals backed by… well, to be honest, it sounds like lounge music to me. It works well enough to make for clear visuals and a relaxed tone, though I do think that tracks you place and the ones that are a part of the puzzle from the start look too similar to each other.

Beyond that, I’m not sure what else there is to say here. The gameplay is pretty straightforward, and the touchscreen controls work well enough. There’s not much in the way of surprises here, but it’s still fairly satisfying for a $2 game.

That’s pretty much what this comes down to – if you want a decent, satisfying Puzzle game that’s not especially unique or original, and you want it super-cheap, Advanced Circuits will probably fit what you’re looking for. As long as your expectations aren’t too high, I think you’ll find this game to your liking.

tl;dr – Advanced Circuits is a family-friendly Puzzle game where players draw a path to connect tracks to form one loop that covers every square on a grid. The gameplay here is simple but satisfying, not particularly original, but probably worth the $2 this game costs. If you’re looking to pad out your Puzzle game library, this is a decent choice.

Grade: C+
