Animal Crossing Clock for Nintendo 3DS – Review

Animal Crossing Clock

Review:

Animal Crossing Clock is an Application released on the Nintendo DSi via the DSiWare service in 2009 and then grandfathered into the Nintendo 3DS eShop when that system was released. As the title indicates, this software is a clock. You know, tell time, set alarms, that sorta’ thing.

The presentation here features 2D artwork based on the Animal Crossing franchise, with no background music whatsoever. Players can go into a music editing tool to change the notes of the alarm that plays when you set an alarm (much as you can do with the hourly chime in most proper Animal Crossing games), but that’s it. There’s nothing else you can do here. This really is… just a clock.

As a reminder, the Nintendo 3DS already has a built-in clock. You can see it in the upper-right corner of your top screen whenever you press the home button in any game (apart from DSiWare titles like this one). I suppose you could look at this as a stylish way to set up a clock on your countertop or something to tick away while you do something else, but if that’s what you’re after, you’d be much better-served buying an actual clock. Heck, there’s even a pretty nice (though costly) Animal Crossing Clock that you can buy, and while it may not cost the $2 price that this does, it’s far more functional.

So… yeah, don’t buy Animal Crossing Clock, not unless you want to own a $2 oddity on your Nintendo 3DS.

tl;dr – Animal Crossing Clock is a Clock Application on a handheld platform that has a built-in clock. I shouldn’t even have to write more than that.
