Review:

Bike Rider Dx2 is an Auto-Runner released on Nintendo 3DS in 2014, with a version of this game unlockable in Crazy BMX World on Nintendo Switch. Just as with the prior year’s Bike Rider DX, this game has players riding a bike across dangerous courses where they must avoid falling, crashing, and various obstacles. This game parts from the first game’s worldly environments to go for a more spacey theme, using that as inspiration for some really bizarre imaginative backdrops for your journey.

The presentation here once again uses simple but appealing 2D visuals with a good amount of color and variety. It’s nothing fancy, but it’s visually-appealing all the same. This is backed by yet another really catchy energetic synthesized soundtrack, with tunes like Libra, Capricorn, and Saggitarius. Suffice it to say, once again this game’s great music really elevates the whole experience.

And yet again, that gameplay experience is nothing too truly revolutionary, but just all around well-made. There’s nothing truly groundbreaking going on here, but there’s a decent amount of variety and challenge, and unlike a lot of bike games, this one doesn’t have you fiddling with the orientation of your bike or timing landings or anything like that – this game could have been done with a runner and it would have played much the same. And just to make things even better this time, you have the addition of a new randomly-generated endless mode in addition to the prior game’s stage-based mode, giving you a new way to try to aim for a high score.

Bike Rider Dx2 improves on the first game to be an even better Auto-Runner, and once again its low $3 price tag makes it all too tempting. If you’re a fan of the genre, or just looking for a good, simple Platformer to add to your Nintendo 3DS lineup, Bike Rider Dx2 is absolutely a game you’ll want to get before the Nintendo 3DS eShop closes in March 2023 (next week!).

tl;dr – Bike Rider Dx2 is an Auto-Runner where players are nominally riding a bike, but once again this is just a really strong entry in the genre, with improvements beyond what we saw in the first game like a new endless mode, all while maintaining the same great core gameplay and excellent soundtrack. For $3, this is a great choice for fans of Platformers, who will definitely want to get this game before the Nintendo 3DS eShop closes in March 2023 (next week!)
