Review:
Comic Workshop is an Application released on the Nintendo 3DS in 2014. While primarily intended for the creation of comic art, Comic Workshop is a pretty versatile Art Creation tool, where players can create artwork and save it to their MicroSD card to transfer off of the Nintendo 3DS.
There’s a pretty decent selection of tools available here, including layers, zoom tools, copy-paste, flip and rotate, blur, and the ability to create speech bubbles and text. Many of these functions are explained in handy interactive tutorials you can access from the game’s opening menu.
It would have been nice if these same tutorials explained the basic function of the game’s “clean copy” system, where you are meant to storyboard and layout your page first before being able to do more detailed work and color, as well as having access to most of the software’s tools.
Still, this is overall a very good Art Creation Application on Nintendo 3DS, and particularly if you want to create comic-style art on the go, this is worth looking into. Though, of course, you may alternately want to consider this software’s sequel, also out on the Nintendo 3DS…
tl;dr – Comic Workshop is an Application for art creation, with a specific focus on comic-style art. This software has some good tools and plenty of helpful tutorials, though it could stand to be a bit more forthcoming about the basic process of using the program to create art from start to finish within this program. Still, if you’re looking to create comic-style art on the go, this may well be worth a look. At least, unless you’re considering getting Comic Workshop 2 instead.
