Review:
Shadow Army is a Top-Down Action game released on the Nintendo DSi via the DSiWare service in 2015, as well as being made available on the Nintendo 3DS eShop. In this game, players take the role of a soldier shooting his way through enemy forces.
The presentation in this game uses simple 2D pixel art visuals backed by a vaguely military-style march. This would be all well and good, except it all gets very repetitive very quickly, both the visuals and the music.
As for the gameplay, this game clearly wants to be a cover-based shooter, but the movement is just too slow and your aiming is too inadequate for this game to work well that way. Rather, what you’ll likely end up doing instead is walking until the enemy is only just barely in range and then taking them out from afar, dodging if they happen to get a shot off before you finish them.
What you’re left with is a pretty mediocre Action game where you’re encouraged to compensate for its poor controls by playing in the most boring way possible while you walk through the game’s repetitive levels with repetitive music playing. Far from my idea of a fun game. Even with its low $2 price tag, I suggest you skip it.
tl;dr – Shadow Army is a Top-Down Action game where players take the role of a soldier shooting down enemies in a military base. The gameplay here is unfortunately just too flawed and repetitive to be enjoyable. Don’t bother with this game.
