Review:
Pazuru is a Puzzle game released on Nintendo 3DS in 2015. In this game, players are presented with a screen filled with stars, obstacles, a few interactive pieces, and a bouncing ball. Using only minimal controls, the game has you moving the interactive pieces to guide the ball to all the stars in as few moves as possible.
The presentation here is extremely simple, with the game having a 2D Japanese watercolor aesthetic, and backed by instrumental music styled to sound like traditional Japanese music. It’s a bit on the bland side, but it works well enough for the game, I suppose.
As for the gameplay, much of the “puzzle” in this game’s levels largely boils down to pressing a button at the right time at different points in the level. This makes for a reasonably entertaining exercise, but this is far from a game that I would call truly compelling. The best I can say is… it does what it sets out to do.
Ultimately, Pazuru isn’t a game you’ll be likely to remember years down the line. It’s a decent enough Puzzle game, but it lacks that something special to make it truly compelling. If you’re looking to pad out your puzzle collection, you could do worse than this game, but you could also do much better.
tl;dr – Pazuru is a Puzzle game where you manipulate objects on-screen to guide a ball to collect multiple stars. It’s a decent enough Puzzle game, but there’s nothing truly compelling about it. Unless you’re looking to add more Puzzle games to your collection, skip this one.
