Review:
Drop It is a physics-based Puzzle game released on Wii U in 2017 and ported to PC in 2023. This game presents players with a 2D structure topped with blocks, upon which rests a star, with the goal of getting the star safely to the ground without dropping it off the edge. To do so, they must use the touchscreen to eliminate blocks and judge how this will affect the way the other blocks fall.
The presentation here is pretty underwhelming, using simple, colorful 2D geometrical shapes with menus that feature a pair of cartoonish characters, with this being backed by some annoying, repetitive music.
While the presentation isn’t going to be for everyone, the gameplay is at least decent enough, though there’s nothing particularly surprising about it. When you’ve read my description in the first paragraph, you already have a pretty good idea of how this game will work. Granted, the game does introduce new elements as you progress, but there’s not much interesting in the way of features or bonus modes here.
If you enjoy physics-based Puzzle games, you’ll probably like Drop It, but I doubt you’ll love it. The terrible presentation isn’t likely to endear this game to you, and the gameplay is sufficient but unexceptional. However, for $2, this is an easy pickup for Puzzle Game fans, even with its faults.
tl;dr – Drop It is a physics-based Puzzle game where players use the touchscreen to eliminate blocks to control how the remaining blocks fall, with the goal of guiding a star sitting above to solid ground below. The gameplay here works well enough, but doesn’t do anything unique or surprising, and the presentation is pretty terrible. However, for only $2, this may be worth picking up for Puzzle game fans.
