Review:

Simply Solitaire is a version of the Klondike Solitaire Card Game released on Nintendo DSi via the DSiWare service in 2011, as well as being released on the Nintendo 3DS eShop. As the title says, this is just the single game of Solitaire, priced at $2.

What do you get for that $2?

Well, in terms of presentation, you get 2D visuals with four choices for card backs and four choices of scrolling backgrounds, and only one choice of song, a synthesized tune that gets old very quickly.

In terms of options, you can choose between Draw-1 and Draw-3 and… well, that’s it. No scoring rules, no hint button or undo button, no instructions or tutorials, nothing. I suppose I should say that the touchscreen controls mostly work fine, though there can be a delay between some actions and the game’s response.

All told, Simply Solitaire is a decent enough version of Klondike Solitaire, but the problem is that it is only Klondike Solitaire, and not an especially great version, at that. You have plenty of choices for Solitaire games on Nintendo 3DS, including others that only cost $2 and come with a lot more than you get here. Go with one of those other versions instead of this.

tl;dr – Simply Solitaire is a version of the Klondike Solitaire Card Game, and like the game’s title indicates, that’s it. Given the lack of options and features, and this game only offering one Solitaire game when plenty of others on the eShop offer plenty, there’s little reason to bother with this, even if you want Solitaire on your Nintendo 3DS.
