Review:

Tap Tap Arcade 2, released on Wii U in 2016, is a Compilation of two simple Arcade-style games: Skeasy and Volcano. With a price of $3, this Compilation is positioning itself as a value package, so of course the question that leads to is, what are you getting for that low price?

Here is what I thought of each of the games in this collection:

GameGenre# of PlayersScore
SkeasyArcade / Sports (Skiing)1D
tl;drThis Top-Down Skiing game has you simply dodging left and right to avoid oncoming trees. It’s fairly easy, and there’s no variety in the environment. You’ll find yourself getting bored of this very quickly.
VolcanoArcade / Platformer1D-
tl;drThis game has players automatically running back and forth in a room gradually filling with lava, with their only control being the ability to press a button to jump, double-jump, or float in midair. The limited control here is frustrating, and the lack of variety will quickly bore you.

In short, both of these games are terrible. Skeasy may at least be something relaxing if you’re looking to turn your brain off and do something repetitive, but there doesn’t seem to be any real skill to it, and it’s very repetitive. Volcano is even worse because your limited control over your character is extremely frustrating.

These games both use unimpressive and simplistic 2D visuals consisting of geometric shapes, backed by a repetitive, annoying soundtrack. I suppose the only other thing of note I can add here is that this game strangely seems to require players to use the Wii U gamepad’s touchscreen to select a game, despite that neither of the included games uses the touchscreen.

Do I really need to say more? Even at $3, Tap Tap Arcade 2 isn’t worth the price. Save your $3 and don’t waste your time with this pair of terrible games.

tl;dr – Tap Tap Arcade 2 is a Compilation of two simple Arcade-style games, Skeasy and Volcano. Skeasy is an extremely simple Top-Down Skiing game, and Volcano is a simple, repetitive Platformer that has you jumping up a series of platforms to avoid lava. Both games are so simple and repetitive you’ll grow bored with them within minutes of playing. Even at $2, this pair of games is not worth the price.
