Review:

Touch Solitaire, known in other regions as 2-in-1 Solitaire, is a Compilation of two types of Solitaire Card Games released on the Nintendo DSi via the DSiWare service in 2010 and then grandfathered into the Nintendo 3DS eShop when that system was released. Those two card games are Spider and Klondike.

The presentation here is extremely simple, with plain 2D visuals, simple bouncy music on the menu screen, some decent card sounds during gameplay, and very little else in the way of bells, whistles, or any other sort of adornment. There aren’t any different card backs or tables to switch between, and you don’t even get music while you’re playing.

There’s not much in the way of options here. Each of the two games has a Hard mode that features the more traditional way to play the game, and an Easy mode. Spider’s Easy mode allows players to play only with one suit, making it easier to create a matched stack. Meanwhile, Klondike’s easy mode allows players to place any card on an empty stack and not just a king. There are no scoring options, no option to choose draw one/draw three, no undo button. There is also no tutorial, though there is a how-to guide at least.

If you own a Nintendo 3DS and you just want a few simple card games on the handheld without any sort of extra features or options, and you want it as cheap as possible, Touch Solitaire may be what you’re looking for, with its $2 price tag and no-frills versions of its two included card games. However, players seeking more options, variety, or style will want to look elsewhere.

tl;dr – Touch Solitaire is a no-frills Compilation of Spider Solitaire and Klondike Solitaire, with very little in the way of options or features. If you just want to spend $2 to get a few simple card games on your Nintendo 3DS, this will do that, but it’s a pretty bare-bones version of these two games.
