WarioWare: Snapped! Is the sixth entry in Nintendo’s oddball “microgames”-driven Arcade-style game series, first released on the DSiWare service in 2009, and later grandfathered into the Nintendo 3DS eShop when the Nintendo 3DS released. This game has players making use of the Nintendo 3DS’s camera to play various “microgame” bite-size minigames, with the game detecting your motions and translating that into the game.

… Or at least, that’s how it’s supposed to work. In reality, this game is an absolute mess. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t, and no matter how much you flail around it’s anyone’s guess whether the game will detect what you’re trying to do.

Even if you do manage to get the game to work properly (and that’s a big “if”), the game only features four sets of microgames. This is somewhat forgivable, as this game is only $5, but as a result this feels more like a tech demo than an actual game… and it’s a terrible tech demo.

I suppose I should mention that this game retains the wacky, eclectic presentation of the WarioWare series, with its colorful cast of characters, endearingly clashing mix of art styles, and loads of personality… but what does any of that matter when the game all of that is in service to is virtually unplayable?

Even fans of the WarioWare franchise will find it hard to justify the meager $5 cost of this game when it simply does not work. Even at that low price, this game is not worth it.

tl;dr – WarioWare: Snapped! Is the DSiWare entry in Nintendo’s Arcade-style “microgame” franchise, focusing on using the camera to control the gameplay with your head and hand motions. Unfortunately, the motion control is busted and does not work properly, making even the low $5 cost of this game a waste of money.

Grade: F
