Review:
Zen Pinball 2 is a free-to-play app to theoretically play Pinball using various tables you can purchase via paid DLC. It was released on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita in 2012, and then released on PlayStation 4 and Wii U in 2013.
This title has since been replaced on modern platforms with Pinball FX 3, which includes access to most of the same tables found in this game, save for a small handful – on the Wii U, the only tables that you can get that aren’t in later games are two South Park-licensed tables (since delisted), and Plants Vs. Zombies, though it bears mention that all of the Marvel-licensed tables in this release aren’t available in the Nintendo Switch version of Pinball FX3.
However, I said this app will theoretically let you play these pinball tables, and that is because, after purchasing one of the tables to try it out, the game refused to let me play it. Yes, that’s right – this game ate my quarters.
As such, I cannot recommend that anyone waste money on this game, even if you’re interested in the few tables that you can’t play on Pinball FX3. This game will only waste your money.
tl;dr – Zen Pinball 2 is nominally a free-to-play application that lets you play Pinball using tables you buy via paid DLC. Unfortunately, the game currently appears not to let you play even if you pay for the DLC. As such, I recommend everyone avoid this game, even if you’re enticed by the few pinball tables that didn’t make it into later games from this developer.
