Genre: Platformer
Players: 1-4 Co-Op (Local), 2-4 Competitive Minigames (Local)

Review:
Unit 4 is a Platformer that has players swapping between four characters who each have their own unique ability – one can air-dash, one can double-jump, one can float, and one can use a grappling hook, with other subtle differences between the four. Players must use these different abilities, sometimes in tandem, to get through the game’s levels.
Visually, this game looks good, with a charming 16 bit-esque presentation, though there’s nothing particularly impressive or memorable here. It works well enough for the gameplay.
As for the gameplay itself, Unit 4 has some basic problems baked-in here. For starters, the controls feel sluggish and unresponsive, which is something you absolutely don’t want in a game where your movement needs to be precision-accurate. On top of this, the game is extremely unforgiving, as well – every time the controls don’t respond properly and you bump into an enemy, you’ll be forced to restart. This is of course a recipe for frustration.
It’s a shame, because there are some nice ideas at work in Unit 4 that, with tighter gameplay and a more forgiving challenge level, could have made for some good fun. However, with this game’s terrible controls and unforgiving nature, I suspect only the most patient fans of Platformers will find this game enjoyable.
tl;dr – Unit 4 is a Platformer where players swap between four characters with different abilities. Unfortunately, the controls are horribly sluggish and unresponsive, and the gameplay is unforgiving, making this a recipe for frustration.
