Review:
Virtual Battle is a Third-Person Shooter released on Nintendo Switch in 2021. Much as its name, this is a fairly simple and straightforward entry in the genre, in pretty much every respect.
In terms of presentation, this game uses simple, blocky 3D environments with wire-frame characters, backed by some forgettable music. At the very least to its credit I can say the framerates here are smooth, but with such a small amount of detail in the graphics, they’d better be.
As for the gameplay, there’s very little to say here. This is about as basic as it gets. There’s no nuance to the gameplay, the bots are dumb and ineffectual, and there’s not even all that much in the way of options. The game does more or less work (well, except for some reason grenades that didn’t seem to be detonating after I threw them), but there’s absolutely nothing here to make this game enjoyable or worth playing.
I should note that this game does make use of gyroscopic motion controls, although even with these controls, the game doesn’t control all that well, and even tinkering with the controls the game seems sluggish.
Virtual Battle is a game that just seems pointless. There doesn’t seem to have been any creative spark here, no drive to do something interesting or different. It’s just a Third-Person Shooter that exists to be a Third-Person Shooter, with no personality, no unique gameplay mechanics, nothing. You have far better options on the Nintendo Switch.
tl;dr – Virtual Battle is a Third-Person Shooter that is completely devoid of any sort of personality or anything unique or interesting to set it apart. Don’t bother.
