Review:

Tricky Towers is a family-friendly physics-based Falling Block Puzzle Game, with multiple gameplay modes all centered on gameplay that has you stacking falling blocks without letting them fall.

The presentation here is pretty simple, but still colorful and appealing, with decent music. There’s nothing here especially noteworthy, but the game manages to have its own sort of cartoony style that works well for the gameplay.

This gameplay comes in three modes – in Race mode, players are trying to reach a specific tower height as quickly as possible. In Survival mode, players try to keep stacking without making any mistakes that cause blocks to fall. And in Puzzle mode, players are trying to stack as many blocks as possible under a line without dropping any. What’s here is pretty good, and the game really shines in multiplayer mode, where players compete on the same goal. The game does a good thing to shake things up, with players being able to use various “white magic” to help themselves, as well as “black magic” to attack opponents.

If I had one major complaint here, it’s that I wish this game had more options. More music choices, handicap options, the ability to choose to play with or without powers, a more substantial single-player mode… while I wouldn’t go as far as to say that this game is starved of content, it definitely feels like it could have been better fleshed-out.

Still, what’s here is fun, accessible, and a great party game for multiple players. Fans of Puzzle games looking for a good competitive multiplayer experience should definitely give Tricky Towers a look.

tl;dr – Tricky Towers is a family-friendly physics-based falling block puzzle game where players try to balance and stack blocks to accomplish a specific goal. While the game could have used more content and options, overall this is a good entry in the genre, especially in local multiplayer mode.

Grade: B+
