Review:
Tumblestone is a puzzle game where you’re shooting up at an encroaching ceiling of colored blocks, able to clear them only by shooting three colored blocks in a row. As such, you need to approach clearing them mindful of what blocks will be revealed as you clear them, or else you might be stuck with an unsolvable mess and have to start over.
Gameplay-wise, this works well enough, though it lacks that “addictive” quality you really want from puzzlers like this, and as some puzzles can really only be solved in one way, it at times just feels like puzzles are looking for the solution the game’s designers had in mind.
The game’s presentation is… fine. It’s clean, it works, but doesn’t do anything spectacular. The best I can say for it is that it’s well-streamlined to keep play going.
In the end, Tumblestone is a decent puzzle game that doesn’t do anything spectacular, but manages to be a sufficient distraction. If you’re looking for one more puzzle game for your collection, you could do worse.
tl;dr – Tumblestone is a puzzle game where players eliminate colored blocks in sets of three. It’s lacking the “addictive” quality the best puzzle games have, but it’s decent enough.
Grade: C+
