Sega Ages Out Run

Genre: Arcade Racing

Players: 1, Online Leaderboards

Review:

Sega Ages Out Run is a port of the classic Sega arcade faux-3D racing game. Players race along a branching series of highways, reacting to turns and traffic.

By today’s standards, this is a pretty simple game, but it still has quite a bit of charm to it, with colorful visuals and decent crash animations. By today’s standards, the game is also absurdly hard, and players new to the game will definitely want to go into the menus to adjust the difficulty and time limit settings.

The Sega Ages version of the game gives players a few options, including playing “New Version” and “Old version” stages, multiple save states, online leaderboards for individual “stages” as well as the overarching trip(s), and unlockable “upgrades” for your car.

Sega Ages Out Run is a decent old-school arcade racer, and while it has aged some since it was a hit in arcades, it’s still a decent nostalgia trip for anyone wanting to give it a shot.

tl;dr – Out Run is a classic Arcade-Style Racing game that’s a bit archaic, and absurdly difficult, but still fun to play even today.

Grade: C
