Review:

Super Loop Drive is an Arcade-style game where players control a car driving on a circular track that coincides with another similar track, and they must speed up or slow down their car to avoid colliding with other cars when they come to crossings.

It’s a pretty simple $4 game, which makes it all the more surprising that the presentation here is actually really fantastic. Every time you start up a new game, you’ll randomly load up one of a small handful of different environments, each with a surprising amount of detail, good lighting and shadows. The only real flaw I see is that as more cars get added to the loop, the game doesn’t even bother trying to keep them from clipping into each other, which cuts down on the otherwise grounded presentation. This comes with some decent engine and crash noises as well (though no music). Given that this game could have gotten by on far less, overall this is pretty nice.

When it comes to the gameplay, you can probably tell how this game plays just by looking at a screenshot. You can only slow down or speed up your vehicle, with your only concern being the timing of crossings so you don’t crash. It’s a decent time-waster, though it gets repetitive really quickly.

It’s a bit of a pity, that, because with a little more work put into adding variety in this game, it could have been a great deal better – more variety in levels, or even a level builder, options for multi-lane traffic (which would have helped to avoid the game’s clipping issues)… basically, there are a number of places this game could have expanded on to be a great deal better.

Despite these missed opportunities, Super Loop Drive is still decent, if a bit simple and repetitive. If you’re looking for a good Arcade-style time-waster on the Switch, you could do far worse.

tl;dr – Super Loop Drive is an Arcade-style game where you can speed up or slow down your car on the track to avoid collisions at crossings. The presentation here is surprisingly good, and the gameplay is decent, although it gets repetitive quickly and there’s a lot of missed opportunity here for something more. Still, if you’re looking for an inexpensive time-waster on the Switch, this game is pretty decent.
