Review:

Racing Xtreme 2 is a Mobile-style Two-button Arcade-style Racing game released on mobile devices in 2018 and ported to Nintendo Switch in 2021. In this game, players time button presses with jumps to ensure that their 4×4 truck wins successive races.

Given the game’s age and mobile origins, the graphics here aren’t bad, with some nice-looking 3D visuals for both the trucks and racing courses. It’s nothing impressive, but it’s not bad. This is backed by a Country-style soundtrack that works well enough for the game.

Unfortunately, there simply isn’t much to this game. Players race by simply tapping a button in time with a prompt. That’s it. There’s no steering, not much in the way of strategy or skill… just a glorified game of Simon Says.

In between races, players will be able to upgrade their vehicle in numerous ways, which is a nice touch… until it becomes clear that this not only does nothing to change the core gameplay beyond improving your stats, but it’s clearly a leftover vestige of this game’s mobile roots that was originally designed to elicit money from players via microtransactions (that are thankfully not present in this release).

It’s a shame that a Racing game that looks as respectable as Racing Xtreme 2 has such simple, bare-bones gameplay, to the point where it’s hard to even call it a Racing game so much as a “press the button at the right time” Arcade-style game. Players looking for a game that presents itself as a Racing game but who don’t want to bother with any of the actual racing may find this game worthwhile, but I can’t imagine that describes many people.

tl;dr – Racing Xtreme 2 is a Racing Game with Mobile-style Two-Button Arcade-style mechanics where players tap a button in time with an on-screen prompt. The presentation here is pretty good, but the gameplay is so brain-dead that I can’t imagine anyone wanting to play this game for more than a few minutes before losing all interest.
