Review:
Risky Rescue is an Arcade-style game where you are piloting a rescue helicopter to pick up stranded civilians from platforms scattered throughout the air.
The game has an odd control scheme where holding L or R allows you to fly upward at an angle in that direction, and releasing the buttons has you continue in that direction at a downward angle. It takes some getting used to, but it’s fairly straightforward once you do.
This game includes a level-based mode where you’re trying to rescue everyone onscreen and return to the helipad, and an endless mode where you’re trying to rescue people while escaping a constantly-rising ocean of water. There’s also a two-player competitive mode.
If it sounds like I’m just describing this game rather than reviewing it, that’s because there’s not much here to review. The game works, but isn’t really spectacular in any way. It’s an okay time-waster, but nothing particularly enticing. It is just… okay.
Well, okay, there is one thing though. The presentation includes visuals that are simple and don’t really make much sense, with islands inexplicably floating in the sky. That’s okay, I suppose, but this game also has incredibly abrasive music that will have you reaching for the “mute” button.
Aside from the terrible music though, Risky Resciue is pretty average. Not bad, not great, but it does what it aims to do well enough, I suppose.
tl;dr – Risky Rescue is an Arcade-style game where you’re rescuing stranded people using a helicopter with awkward controls. It plays well enough, but there isn’t anything especially interesting here, save for a terrible soundtrack.
