Rô is a Platformer released on Nintendo Switch in 2023, with the game selling for a mere $0.50. Is this game worth that low price?

The presentation in Rô is nothing special, featuring cartoony 2D visuals backed by repetitive synthesized music. The visuals wouldn’t be horrible except that they don’t seem to have any clear personality to them, they can be a bit “jittery” at times, and they’re extremely repetitive. Oh, and the main character is designed to look suspiciously like Mario, too.

However, this game doesn’t play like Mario. You’ll be working your way through 50 obstacle course-style levels, with enemies you can’t fight or even stun, and must merely avoid, along with other one-hit kill hazards in the levels, like spikes.

There’s nothing especially unique or interesting about this game, the Platformer gameplay is middling at best, and poor at worst (with this being one of those games that makes you repeatedly jump if you hold down the jump button).

So is Rô worth your fifty cents? Eh, I suppose at that price some players may find it worthwhile as a time-waster. But make no mistake, this is not a game you’ll want to play much of on Nintendo Switch, especially with countless other better entries in the genre. Just about the only thing this game has going for it is its super-low price. And even that can only take this game so far.

tl;dr – Rô is a Platformer that has you working your way through obstacle course-style levels while avoiding enemies that you can’t fight. This game features repetitive visuals, poor gameplay, and does nothing that’s particularly unique or original. But I suppose for only $0.50, some players may find this to be a time-waster worth the tiny price tag.
