Review:

Rock Boshers is a Two-Stick Shooter designed to look like an old-fashioned ZX Spectrum game. In it, players shoot their way through screen after screen of soldiers and zombies and relive the old days.

I’ll admit, I never had a ZX Spectrum. However, despite this, the game does a very good job evoking nostalgia with its presentation, which has teeny-tiny characters moving through labyrinthine floors of a slave mining operation on Mars.

As for the gameplay, there’s not really much I can say about it. It’s solid, but doesn’t do anything especially new or inventive for the genre. Shoot in one of eight directions, collect colored keys to open corresponding gates, and if you like, chat with NPCs to enjoy their cleverly-written dialogue.

If you’re looking for a retro-styled two-stick shooter on the Switch, you can do far worse than Rock Boshers. It’s a fun little time-waster well worth adding to your collection.

tl;dr – Rock Boshers is a 2-Stick Shooter styled to look like old ZX Spectrum games. Beyond its aesthetic, it doesn’t do anything especially noteworthy, but it’s still pretty fun. Worth a look.
