Rock ‘N Racing Bundle Off Road & Grand Prix, released on Nintendo Switch in 2021, is a Compilation of two Top-Down Racing games: Rock ‘N Racing Off Road DX and Grand Prix Rock ‘N Racing, each separately released on the Nintendo Switch in 2017 and 2018, respectively..
Here’s what I thought of each of the games in this collection:
| Game | Genre | # of Players | Grade |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rock ‘N Racing Off Road DX | Top-Down Racing | 1-4 Competitive (Local) | F |
tl;drRock ‘N Racing Off Road DX is a Top-Down Racing game in the same vein as Super Off-Road. Unfortunately, the controls here are broken beyond recognition, making it less a race against other vehicles and more of a struggle with your own vehicle. Do not buy this game. | |||
| Grand Prix Rock ‘N Racing | Top-Down Racing | 1-4 Competitive (Local Split-Screen) | D+ |
tl;drGrand Prix Rock ‘N Racing is a Top-Down Racing game that has players racing F1 cars with a visual style that looks a lot like a scale model. While the presentation here is charming, the gameplay is so stiff and unforgiving that it’s hard to enjoy this game. I recommend you skip it and save yourself the trouble. | |||
As you can tell, I think both of these games have some pretty severe issues, and specifically both of them suffer from unwieldy controls that fight against the player, Off Road DX in particular. They also both share some assets, such as a cheesy announcer who says things like “kart your engines”. And while Grand Prix isn’t without some degree of charm, I consider Off Road DX to be virtually unplayable, and what little quality there is in Grand Prix doesn’t make this package worth it at all.
However, perhaps the final nail in the coffin of this compilation is the price, which is actually a penny more expensive than buying these two games separately. This complete lack of value in Rock ‘N Racing Bundle Off Road & Grand Prix makes it completely fail on every level – not only are both the games included here terrible, but you’re not even saving money by buying both at the same time. As such, there is absolutely no reason to buy this bundle whatsoever.
tl;dr – Rock ‘N Racing Bundle Off Road & Grand Prix is a Compilation of two Top-Down Racing games, both of them terrible, with unwieldy controls that players will struggle with. And to top it off, this bundle presents zero value – it’s actually slightly more expensive than buying both games separately. So save yourself some money and headache, and stay far away from these games.
