Review:

Roulette, released as an asset on the Unity Asset Store in 2018 as Roulette Game, and brought to Nintendo Switch in 2020 as a low-effort asset flip, is of course a videogame version of the classic Casino game, Roulette. As this game is a classic card game and likely older than anyone currently reading this review, I’ll be focusing mainly on the presentation, features, options, and performance of this game.

The presentation here ranges from rudimentary to just plain bad. The visuals here are decent but nothing special, but the framerate is surprisingly bad, and the sound is eerily quiet, with no music in-game, and the noises for doing different actions sounding highly artificial. This is simply not at all a welcoming experience.

There’s not much in terms of gameplay here either. It’s pretty much just place your bet and then roll the ball to see if you won. That’s it. No multiplayer, no strategy, no game options, no leaderboard, nothing. The gamepad controls here are okay, but awkward, sluggish, and the button shortcuts are a bit odd.

And that’s… really all there is to say here. This is a very rudimentary version of Roulette, and it’s priced at $10, which is kinda’ outrageous. Even at $1, I would say this is probably not worth the price, but at $10, it’s almost insulting. And no, the $2 sale price doesn’t make it any more appealing.

There are plenty of other versions of Roulette, versions that come in Casino games that have more content, versions that had actual effort put into them, versions that don’t feel like a sad, creepy, pale shadow of the game in question. If you really want to get your Roulette on, but another game with Roulette in it, not this one.

tl;dr – Roulette is a creepy, low-effort asset flip that’s a pretty terrible version of the game in question. The $2 sale price is overpriced for the low-budget, feature-poor version of the game included here, and the normal $10 price tag is outright insulting. Do yourself a favor and don’t buy this at any price.
