Miniature is a Puzzle game that presents players with a series of dioramas, and challenges them to place the scenes in chronological order.
This seems like a really simple concept, and it is, but the game over-complicates things by not telling them just what it is they’re meant to be doing, and saddling them with confusing, awkward controls. This game should just be a simple matter of controlling the camera, swapping the scenes, and then assigning each scene a number, yet somehow even this much seems like a struggle to do in the game.
It’s a shame, because the presentation here is phenomenal. Each of the dioramas has all sorts of wonderful little details, nice lighting, and even matching sounds that play out that really set the scene, making it seem like each little diorama you’re studying is its own little masterpiece. And while the stories themselves are fairly simple, it’s still fun to look them over and put them in an order.
It’s a shame that Miniature bungles the interface so badly in this game, because everything else here is a delight. For the low price, players who have some patience with the game’s controls may still find it worthwhile. However, the game’s problems make it hard for me to give it a wholehearted recommendation.
tl;dr – Miniature is a Puzzle game that challenges players to take a series of dioramas and place them in order to tell a story. It’s a good concept with a fantastic presentation, but terrible, confusing controls make it difficult to fully enjoy.
