(Note: This game is included in 2 in 1: Trash Punk & Moto Rush GT, along with Trash Punk.)

Note: Multiple versions of this game have been released. In addition to the original game, there is also the Deluxe Edition, which contains the Expansion Pack. There were also at one time a Complete Edition and a Premium Edition, but these appear to be currently unavailable. For the purposes of this review, I am only reviewing the core game.

Moto Rush GT is an Arcade-Style Racing game where players play a motorcyclist weaving in and out of traffic to race to the end of the stage, with steering controls done using the motion controls in the Switch’s controller.

A fair number of games have tried their hand at using the Switch’s motion controls, with wildly mixed results, but here it ends up working pretty well, and actually gives players pretty decent precision in steering through the traffic.

This will prove to be important, as one of the goals players are often tasked with requires them to get into as many near-miss situations as possible during a run. It can be pretty thrilling to weave through oncoming traffic in the wrong lane as it rushes by you.

Unfortunately, that thrill dies down pretty quickly due to how disappointingly repetitive the game is. The game has you driving through the same sorts of environments repeatedly with slight variations, but since the gameplay just amounts to dodging traffic as you drive as fast as you can, and perhaps doing a wheelie or a jump for more points, this can start to feel like just going through the motions. What’s more, the game has no multiplayer mode, one thing that could have added an element of fun to the game as you race another player, or see who can get into the greatest number of close calls before wiping out.

I should mention that this game boasts support for the Labo Motorbike Toycon. I wasn’t able to test this myself, but judging from videos, it looks like it probably doesn’t play much differently from just playing the game in handheld mode. It’s a nice inclusion, but nothing that fundamentally changes the game.

Graphically, this game is… fine. It’s not terrible, but does nothing especially interesting or different. At the very least it looks like the game runs smoothly at 60FPS, which is especially nice given its fast pace, but the simple environments and textures aren’t going to wow anyone.

With how repetitive this Moto Rush GT is, and the lack of features, what you’re left with is a solid core gameplay experience that gets old a bit too quickly. It’s not bad, but it feels like it could have used some work to transform it into something more engaging.

tl;dr – Moto Rush GT is a fast-paced Arcade Racing game that has players tilting their controller to steer their motorcycle through traffic at high speeds. The motion controls actually work very well, and the fast pace of the game can be really thrilling, but that thrill dies down as the repetitive nature of the game sets in. As a result, this is a fun distraction, but not one you’ll likely play for long.
