Review:
NecroWorm is an Arcade-style Puzzle game that has players moving a worm through the game’s levels aiming to eat all of the pickups in that level… usually human body parts.
As you can imagine with a game that has this name and concept, the visuals here aim to be grotesque and repulsive, with ugly hand-drawn characters. This is undermined somewhat by the fact that none of these body parts depicted here are proportional, which makes the game come off as a bit more cartoony than this presentation may otherwise seem to be aiming for. Plus, this game has an annoying soundtrack that’s not creepy or disturbing, it’s just repetitive.
As for the gameplay, it’s decent, if a bit uninspired. Think through your path to collect everything without walling yourself in. There’s not much here to say, though I will note that the inconsistent nature of the pickups makes it unclear sometimes whether something is a pickup or a hazard.
So if you’re looking for a fairly standard Puzzle game with an off-putting presentation, NecroWorm is that, I guess. Are you looking for that? I can’t imagine that many people are, but if you are, then you’ll probably find this game to be a decent distraction.
tl;dr – NecroWorm is an Arcade-style Puzzle game that has you trying to collect all the pickups in each level without trapping yourself with your own body. It’s a fairly standard, predictable Puzzle game with an intentionally off-putting presentation. If that sounds appealing to you, you’ll probably be satisfied with this game.
