Review:

Number Place 10000 is a Sudoku Puzzle game released on Nintendo Switch in 2019, and its big selling point is that it does indeed have 10,000 sudoku puzzles.

The presentation here is good if a bit basic. Simple, clean visuals are super-easy to read, with a small selection of decent background music and different selectable color themes. Nothing exciting, but overall pretty decent.

In terms of the gameplay, the good news is that most of the controls for this game are mostly pretty good, with some good controls with both touchscreen and traditional gamepad controls. However, a few major problems really spoil things here.

Firstly, the control for making notes is a bit wonky, requiring you to double-press the note button and then press another button to exit the note menu. This is cumbersome and needlessly confusing. However, even worse than this issue is the fact that this game only lets you make four notes per cel (for non-Sudoku players, the standard is nine – one for each potential number).

Because of this, I’m really conflicted on Number Place 10000. On the one hand, the way notes are handled here is completely and utterly broken, and that’s a major part of any decent sudoku game. On the other hand, 10,000 puzzles for under $6 is a bonkers crazy good value. On balance, I’d say if you’re the sort of player who doesn’t need to make notes to play sudoku, this title is a no-brainer for you. However, for most, this major flaw should give you some pause, despite the value this package offers.

tl;dr – Number Place 10000 is a Sudoku Puzzle game that has, yes, 10000 puzzles. This is an incredibly good value, and the presentation here is pretty good… but this game completely fails when it comes to players’ ability to make notes, which has some really poor controls here and is extremely limited in implementation. As a result, despite the value, it’s hard to give this game the glowing recommendation it would get without these flaws.
