Review:

Octahedron is a stylish, neon-infused Platformer that introduces some unique and interesting mechanics while you work your way through the game’s levels to a rockin’ chiptune beat.

This game’s presentation is fantastic. The entire game plays out like a neon lightshow, and the background soundtrack does an incredible job of getting your blood pumping to take on the game’s challenges. The soundtrack alone is a highlight for this game, without question one of the best to see release this year.

As for the gameplay here, this game has some really clever mechanics that get you to really think your way through the game’s levels. The game starts by giving the player the ability to create their own platforms and surf on them, and then builds on that as the game goes on, with the levels always testing players’ understanding of these mechanics as they’re introduced. It isn’t quite so cerebral that I would consider it a Puzzle-Platformer, but nearly so. Multiple times while playing this game I found myself chuckling at how clever it is.

That said, this isn’t a game for everyone – this can be quite a challenging game, and I expect that many players will find themselves dying multiple times in some of this game’s levels, sometimes being sent back down a frustrating distance to try again. However, the game does a good job of keeping things moving, and it’s compelling enough that players will want to press on.

All told, Octahedron: Transfixed Edition is an absolute delight of a Platformer, and one that will have you thoroughly enjoying its amazing presentation as you challenge yourself with its unique gameplay. Fans of Platformers should definitely give this game a try.

tl;dr – Octahedron is a Platformer with some unique mechanics that have you creating your own platforms and surfing on them in a neon-infused presentation with a rocking chiptune soundtrack. This game is a delight that fans of Platformers should absolutely play.
