Review:

One Line Coloring is a family-friendly Puzzle game released on PC, mobile devices, and Nintendo Switch in 2020. This is a game that has players tracing a line on an image, trying to go over all of the lines without repeating a line once.

The presentation here is nice, but nothing special, with the line art you’re tracing turning into a low-poly 3D model upon completion and becoming part of a diorama, with the game overall filled with pastel colors and light, relaxed music to make this a laid-back experience.

That’s pretty fitting for the gameplay here, which is a simply matter of selecting the next point to draw a line to and continuing on that process until the puzzle is complete. This can be done using either the gamepad or touchscreen, but really either works fine.

If I had to point to one major problem here, it would be the complete lack of challenge. Once you figure out the trick to doing these puzzles, it becomes a straightforward matter of simply going through the motions rather than doing any actual puzzling. The game does add a little complexity in parts with the addition of one-way lines, but for the most part these puzzles are exceedingly simple.

In the end, I think this game largely succeeds in what it aims to do, providing an extremely relaxed and easygoing Puzzle experience that’s welcoming to more casual players. More experienced players, however, will find little of value here. The game is just too simple and easy to be more than a mild distraction unless you’re particularly young or new to Puzzle games. If that describes you, you may find this to be a nice, laid-back and simple game. But everyone else is better off with other entries in the genre.

tl;dr – One Line Coloring is a pretty simple family-friendly Puzzle game that has you tracing lines on a puzzle and trying to complete it without using the same line twice. It’s a decent relaxed experience, but it’s largely devoid of challenge. This one’s for casual players only.
