Review:
Pang Adventures is an Arcade-style game that’s the latest in the series we in the US would know better as Super Buster Bros. It features a cartoony story about alien invaders who use bubble weapons on Earth and a pair of brothers who fight them, but in the end this game is mostly focused on the gameplay, where you run back and forth along the ground shooting up at bouncing balls while avoiding them touching you.
The gameplay here is reasonably fast-paced and varied, with various elements added to shake up the formula, from breakable blocks in between you and the balls, helpful bonuses and characters, and different ball types themselves, such as bomb balls that detonate nearby balls, and electric balls that shoot down bursts of energy at you. The game’s campaign mode also has boss characters to fight.
There’s a good set of features here too, with full support for couch co-op, as well as online leaderboards. There’s nothing here that really revolutionizes the gameplay of the series, but what is here makes for a good, arcadey experience. This is helped by the bright, clean, colorful visuals and the pleasant soundtrack.
In the end, Pang Adventures does exactly what it sets out to do and it does it well: it delivers a solid arcadey experience fitting for the latest game in the series that brought us Buster Bros. A good addition to the Nintendo Switch library.
tl;dr – Pang Adventures is an Arcade-style game in the classic Buster Bros series, where you shoot bubbles while dodging them. The game doesn’t do anything to revolutionize the series, but what’s here is done well.
