Review:

I’m not a huge fan of the auto-runner genre, but at the very least they can occasionally make for a decent time-waster. Peasant Knight doesn’t even reach that level of “fun”.

The game has an interesting enough concept, at least. Your character is constantly propelled forward, with your only control being either jumping, or pressing a button to make your character stop. However, don’t stop long – there’s a ticking timer in each level and if you take too long, you’ll be killed and have to start over.

Yeah, this game finds just about every way it can to be unforgiving and difficult, making each level not just a challenge, but a frustrating and tedious gauntlet.

Your character moves surprisingly quickly, making the timing of button presses easy to miss. Die and start over.

Platforms are small, making them easy to miss. Die and start over.

Cautious and wait a little too long before hard jumps? Die and start over.

Maybe some people find this sort of thing fun, but for me, it’s just frustrating. It’s not like I have a stunning visual presentation, phenomenal soundtrack, or amazing story pressing me forward, either. Pixellated but unimpressive graphics, annoying sounds, and a mildly amusing bare bones story are all that’s here… and that’s just not enough to keep making me want to subject myself to this.

Maybe there are people out there who absolutely love punishingly hard games because they’re punishingly hard, but I’m not one of them. For me Peasant Knight was not only a frustrating game, but one that seemed to go out of its way to be frustrating whenever possible. No thank you.

tl;dr – Peasant Knight is a runner-style game with a ridiculously hard challenge level and not a lot going for it. It seems like it was designed specifically to frustrate players. If that’s the case, it worked with me.
