Review:

Laser Kitty Pow Pow is a silly Arcade-style game where players control a giant cat floating on a cloud shooting lasers at an invading army. And while it might seem like this game’s creators just tossed a silly concept out there and called it a day, this game actually has some surprising nuances to it.

The controls here are fairly simple – players can use shoulder buttons, face buttons, or the D-pad to fire left or right, and firing also pushes you in the opposite direction. Players can also move up or down levels by pressing that direction on the D-pad.

So while players are shooting lasers, they must also be mindful of how their firing will move their character, since they’ll need to be mindful of where enemies are and also maneuver themselves toward pickups, which are both needed to complete the level as well as to purchase upgrades for your flying death kitty.

I should mention that this game also makes for some good local co-op play, although having a partner cuts down on the challenge somewhat, and when things get too frantic there can be some slowdown that occurs.

Slowdown issues aside, generally speaking, this game’s presentation is… well, about as colorful and manic as you’d expect from this concept, with tons of colors flying around and some interesting and bizarre pixel art for your cat. Also, the angry “mraarr” noise you cat makes throughout the game is pretty amusing.

All in all, for a silly, simple Arcade-style game, Laser Kitty Pow Pow is surprisingly fun, with some good nuance to its gameplay that helps to keep it from getting too repetitive. For $3, this is a surprisingly good little game for the Switch, well worth a look.

tl;dr – Laser Kitty Pow Pow is an Arcade-style game where one or two players play as giant cats on clouds shooting armies using laser eyes. It’s silly, fast and frenetic, and surprisingly fun. For the tiny price tag, this is a surprisingly good simple game.
