Review:

Leisure Suit Larry – Wet Dreams Saga is a Compilation of Leisure Suit Larry – Wet Dreams Don’t Dry, first released on PC in 2018, then ported to mobile devices, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch in 2019, followed by a port to Xbox One in 2020, and Leisure Suit Larry – Wet Dreams Dry Twice, first released on PC in 2020 and ported to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch in 2021. Both of these games follow the titular Larry Laffer, a relic of the 80s obsessed with bedding girls.

It should be noted that much as with the rest of this series, both of the included games are very insistent with their “adults only” themes, with characters constantly talking about sex, all sorts of objects shaped like sexual body parts, occasional nudity and sexual acts… suffice it to say, these games are not intended for underage players, even if their sense of humor arguably is.

Here is what I thought of each of the games in this collection:

tl;drLeisure Suit Larry – Wet Dreams Don’t Dry is an “adults only” Graphic Adventure about the titular dating-obsessed anachronistic 80s sleazeball who is now a man out of time in the modern era. Both Larry and this game have trouble coming to grips with the modern day, with horribly dated jokes and even more dated gameplay, along with terrible controls. There’s just not much to like here, and only series fans are likely to enjoy this game.
Leisure Suit Larry – Wet Dreams Dry TwiceGraphic Adventure1C-
tl;drLeisure Suit Larry – Wet Dreams Dry Twice is an “adults only” Graphic Adventure and sequel to Wet Dreams Don’t Dry that is once again about the titular girl-obsessed anachronistic 80s sleazeball. This game’s story directly follows the previous game and tries to balance the series’ usual smutty references and innuendo with more modern sensibilities, only succeeding some of the time. The controls are slightly improved here too, but the game still has some basic gameplay problems due to outdated design. In the end, only fans of the previous game should bother with this one.

In short, these two games form a connected story, making them appropriate for a bundle, and they do a decent job of remaining faithful to the earlier games in the series, for better or worse. Between the two, I think the sequel is improved over the original game, but the story of that game ties directly into the first game, so you won’t want to play these games out of order.

Unfortunately, both of these games suffer many of the same problems. The sense of humor will not appeal to everyone, especially with a lot of crude, juvenile humor, tired cultural references, and even a racist caricature or two. What’s more, the controls have problems, and this style of Graphic Adventure gameplay retains some of the worst characteristics of the old-school “point and click”-style games that these games imitate.

If you were interested in these games, however, you would undoubtedly wonder whether this bundle is worth pursuing, and to that end, this bundle’s $65 price tag will save you $15 off the price of buying these games individually, which isn’t bad… although I would argue that the $40 price tag on each of those games is already a bit high, and even $65 for the two of them seems a bit steep when they probably should have both been priced at $20-$30 each to begin with. I suppose there’s always sales to fall back on, though.

In the end, Leisure Suit Larry – Wet Dreams Saga is a Compilation with a pair of Graphic Adventures that just have too many problems to be worthwhile to most players. Even if you’re down with these games’ style of juvenile sex-obsessed humor, you still have to content with their bad controls and outdated game design. And while this bundle does offer some savings over the price of buying the games separately, it’s still pretty expensive. Unless you’re a dedicated fan of this series, I would argue to just skip this bundle.

tl;dr – Leisure Suit Larry – Wet Dreams Saga is a Compilation of the “adults only” Graphic Adventure games Leisure Suit Larry – Wet Dreams Don’t Dry and Leisure Suit Larry – Wet Dreams Dry Twice, which follow the adventures of the titular anachronistic woman-chasing sleazeball. The sense of humor in these games will not appeal to everyone, and the games are made worse by poor controls and outdated, frustrating game design. Also, while the bundle is cheaper than buying these games separately, it’s still too pricey. Unless you’re a series fan, skip this package.
