Review:

Link-A-Pix Deluxe, released on multiple platforms in 2020, including the Nintendo Switch, is a Numberlink Puzzle game that brings the ___ -A-Pix series’ style of presentation to the Numberlink style of puzzle gameplay. If you’re familiar with Numberlink puzzles and familiar with the ___ -A-Pix games, you should probably already know exactly what to expect from this game.

However, for those who aren’t familiar with the ___-A-Pix games, these games use a retro-style pixel art presentation with a chiptune soundtrack. It’s decent enough, and doesn’t interfere with the gameplay, but doesn’t do anything impressive either. It’s not going to be for everyone, but I like it.

As for the gameplay… well, I’m not sure what to tell you here. It’s a Numberlink-style Puzzle game. You know, grid with numbered tiles on it, and you have to connect the like-colored numbers to each other with a line the same length as the number? And to that end, it works just fine. The controls work fine (both traditional and touchscreen controls), the presentation is clean and not confusing… really, I don’t have much to say here.

Few games are so clearly “what you see is what you get” as Link-A-Pix Deluxe. There are no surprises here, good or bad. Just a solid Numberlink Puzzle game. As with other games in the ___-A-Pix franchise, players may or may not care for the retro presentation and plain feature set, but if there’s nothing in the presentation you find off-putting, you’re likely to find this to be a solid entry in the genre.

tl;dr – Link-A-Pix Deluxe is a Numberlink Puzzle game with the same retro-style presentation as other games in the ___-A-Pix series. If that sounds good to you, you’ll probably find this to be a solid entry in the genre, albeit one without any surprises, good or bad.
