M.A.C.E. Tower Defense
Genre: Tower Defense
Players: 1

Review:
M.A.C.E. Tower Defense is a futuristic tower defense game that’s… actually pretty bog-standard as far as the genre goes. Place towers along a path, upgrade them as you gain resources, try to manage your money… fans of the genre will find most of this old hat.
That’s not to say that there aren’t a few original ideas here. Players can place barriers and land mines in the path of oncoming attackers, but for the most part, this is fairly standard stuff. It’s decent enough, but unspectacular.
The presentation also speaks to this game’s unambitious nature. The graphics aren’t anything impressive, and the sound is really low-quality – when your towers fire weapons, it sounds more like you’re pelting sheet metal with rocks than firing ordinance.
However, some parts of this game seem straight-up amateurish. There are menu items that cannot be selected, apparently left in the game on accident. There are multiple instances of horrible, shoddy localization (“detonates if hitted by an enemy”, “rapit firerate”). This is a cheap game, but it also feels cheap.
Don’t get me wrong, M.A.C.E. Tower Defense is still a passable tower defense game for someone wanting to play the genre on the cheap. But “cheap” is the operative word here, and you get what you pay for with this game.
tl;dr – M.A.C.E. Tower Defense is a cheap Tower Defense game that feels cheap. It plays fine, but there’s nothing really special going on here, and in many places this game looks and feels very amateurish. If you only have four bucks, it’s fine, but if you can afford to spend more there are plenty of better options.
