Review:

Grab the Bottle is an Arcade-style physics-based puzzle game where you are directing a hand through a room full of objects to guide it through all of the collectables and reach the titular bottle.

Moving the hand through the environments kinda’ works like driving a car – you “turn left” or “turn right” while your hand is automatically propelled forward, with your arm stretching along the path you move. It isn’t an especially intuitive control setup, and it’s complicated by the need to grab objects, which forces your hand to quickly withdraw along the path it originally took.

The way this plays out means that if you want to avoid bumping into other objects (including your own arm) you need to plan out the route you will take, making this just as much of a puzzle game as a silly arcadey experience.

While all of this is good in theory, with a silly, unique theme and some thought-provoking puzzles, the game itself just isn’t very fun to play. It’s frustrating to try to get the hand to move how you want it, the difficulty curve is too steep, and you’ll find yourself having to restart levels very frequently.

The game’s visuals aren’t doing the game any favors either. In theory, the game’s graphics are helping to convey the whimsical theme of the game, but in practice, they’re just… well, ugly.

I definitely credit the makers of Grab the Bottle on coming up with a unique premise, but the way that premise plays out here is frustrating and tedious, a far cry from the whimsical nature of that premise.

tl;dr – Grab the Bottle is an Arcade-style Puzzle game where you guide a hand through an obstacle course of objects to grab collectables and then, as the title states, a bottle. It’s an odd, original premise, but it’s held back by frustrating, tedious gameplay that’s just not fun to play.
