Review:

Indie Puzzle Bundle Vol. 1 is a collection of four Puzzle games from publisher Digerati. I have reviewed these games separately.

I should note that Glass Masquerade is also available in the Glass Masquerade Double Pack along with Glass Masquerade 2: Illusions. Slayaway Camp: Butcher’s Cut is also included in the Indie Darling Bundle Vol. 2 along with Bleed 2 and The Aquatic Adventure of the Last Human, as well as the Blood and Guts Bundle along with Slain: Back From Hell and Super Blood Hockey.

Here were my thoughts on each of these games:

GameGenre# of PlayersGrade
Glass MasqueradePuzzle1C-
tl;drGlass Masquerade is a puzzle game that has you piecing together absolutely gorgeous stained glass clock faces much like you would work on a jigsaw puzzle. Unfortunately the controls are absolutely atrocious and ruin the whole experience.
Letter Quest RemasteredPuzzle / Turn-Based RPG1B
tl;drLetter Quest Remastered is a game that combines a Turn-Based RPG with a spelling-based Puzzle game like Boggle or Scrabble. It’s a decent pairing of the two, but it doesn’t really meet its full potential, with too much grind and not enough depth. Still worth playing for genre fans, but nothing truly great.
Pipe Push ParadisePuzzle1C
tl;drPipe Push Paradise is a puzzle game where you push pipes to reconnect the water supply. It’s okay, but it lacks anything to really set it apart or make you want to play it for any great length of time.
Slayaway Camp: Butcher’s CutPuzzle1C
tl;drSlayaway Camp: Butcher’s Cut is a sliding block puzzle game disguised as a slasher film tribute, and although it gets repetitive before long, it’s still likely to make fans of slasher films crack a smile.

So, the good news here is that none of these games is really all that bad. Glass Masquerade is probably the worst in the bunch, but that’s largely due to clumsy controls that get in the way of an otherwise good game. What’s more, even though these games are all from the same genre, each has an entirely different style of gameplay – you get a jigsaw puzzle, a sliding block puzzle, a spatial re-arranging style puzzle, and a spelling puzzle / RPG hybrid.

However, the downside to this collection is, there isn’t much here that truly stands out, either. Letter Quest Remastered is probably the best of the bunch, and it is merely a pretty good game, not a great one. What’s more, not a one of these games is multiplayer.

And then there’s the question of value. At $40, you are saving $10 over the cost to purchase these games individually. However, even then, spending $40 to get four unspectacular games seems a bit steep.

However, if you can get Indie Puzzle Bundle Vol. 1 on sale at a decent price, it’s not a bad collection of games, and the variety here means you have a good chance of finding something you like, if you’re a fan of the genre. However, at its normal price, it’s probably best to give this collection a wide berth.

tl;dr – Indie Puzzle Bundle Vol. 1 is a collection of four Puzzle games that are all in the average-to-decent range, and all provide a good amount of variety. Having said that, there’s no truly stand-out games here, and even saving $10 on the cost of buying these games separately still makes for a steep price. If you’re a fan of the genre and this game has a good sale it may be worth getting, but otherwise steer clear.
