Review:

Cosmonauta is a challenging Platformer released on Nintendo Switch in 2020 that’s about as bare-bones as you can get. As such, this will be a short review.

In terms of presentation, this is an underwhelming game with forgettable pixel art graphics and a repetitive chiptune soundtrack. There’s nothing especially bad about it, but nothing that stands out either.

In terms of gameplay… this is also pretty lacking in anything noteworthy. Move left, move right, jump. That’s about it. To the game’s credit, its levels do gradually add elements that make for some variety, but there’s still very little here that’s inspired or engaging.

Having said that… for the price of $1, Cosmonauta isn’t horrible. It’s not broken, and those who enjoy challenging Platformers may find it to be a worthwhile distraction. But for most, this is a case of “you get what you pay for”, and here you pay $1 for a cheap, disposable, forgettable Platformer.

tl;dr – Cosmonauta is a challenging Platformer that’s pretty forgettable. If you’re someone who enjoys harder Platformers and you’re looking for something cheap and disposable, this may serve to distract you for a short while, but it’s not likely to do much more than that.
