Review:

Croc’s World 2, like its predecessor, is a Platformer that was pretty clearly inspired by the original Super Mario Bros., and by “clearly inspired”, I mean if it were any clearer lawyers would have to be involved. Players play a protagonist who moves from the left to the right, jumps on goombas snails to subdue them, jumps up to hit question mark star blocks to get a mushroom helmet that allows him to break through weaker blocks when he hits their underside, and this can be powered up again with a fire flower bag of rocks that enables your character to chuck fireballs rocks at enemies.

Given the lazy, uninspired first game, my main question going into the sequel was whether this would just be a copy-paste of the Croc’s World without any significant changes, and the answer to this is… sorta’. For the most part, this is the same game, but there are a few additions and tweaks here and there.

Graphically, Croc’s World 2 features the same cartoony, colorful presentation that was devoid of personality in the first game, with the exact same graphics (except for the crab enemies, which have inexplicably changed appearance). It also continues to use the first game’s terrible, repetitive single song.

In terms of gameplay, the level design is a bit better this time compared to the first game, and now both the helmet and bag of rocks power-ups can be upgraded… but even these small tweaks do not change that the gameplay here is still boring, repetitive, and uninspired.

In the end, Croc’s World 2 is a tiny improvement over the first game’s attempt to copy a 35 year-old classic that still manages to give us an inferior product. And like the first game, this is a lazy knockoff of a Platformer that is not worth your time.

tl;dr – Croc’s World 2 is a Platformer that is a lazy copycat of the original Super Mario Bros., and a poor one at that. It makes a few tiny improvements over the first Croc’s World, but is still a mediocre game that isn’t worth your time.
