Review:

Croc’s World 3, like the first two games in the series, is a Platformer that was pretty clearly inspired by the original Super Mario Bros., and by “clearly inspired”, I mean if it were any clearer lawyers would have to be involved. Players play a protagonist who moves from the left to the right, jumps on goombas snails to subdue them, jumps up to hit question mark star blocks to get a mushroom helmet that allows him to break through weaker blocks when he hits their underside, and this can be powered up again with a fire flower bag of rocks that enables your character to chuck fireballs rocks at enemies.

Given the lazy, uninspired first game, and the second game that tweaked a few things but did little to improve upon them, I expected much the same this time around… and that’s pretty much what I got. While still technically an improvement over its predecessor, Croc’s World 3 is even less of a step forward for the series than the second game.

Graphically, Croc’s World 3 features the same cartoony, colorful presentation that was devoid of personality in the first two games, with the exact same graphics as the second game. It also continues to use the first game’s terrible, repetitive single song.

In terms of gameplay, now players have Super Mario Bros. 3-style overworld map, the ability to swim, and a new character named Roody to play as (who seems to be identical to Croc in the way he controls)… but even these small tweaks do not change that the gameplay here is still boring, repetitive, and uninspired.

In the end, Croc’s World 3 is a tiny improvement over the first two games’ attempt to copy a 35 year-old classic that still manages to give us an inferior product. And like the first two games, this is a lazy knockoff of a Platformer that is not worth your time.

tl;dr – Croc’s World 3 is a Platformer that is a lazy copycat of the original Super Mario Bros., and a poor one at that. It makes a few tiny improvements over the first two Croc’s World games, but is still a mediocre game that isn’t worth your time.
