Ducky Quacky is a 3D Platformer released on Nintendo Switch in 2022. In this game, players take the role of a duck who collects apples (for some reason) as well as keys to open a door to exit the level.
The presentation here is very simple and in many ways incomplete. The game uses simple 3D visuals that are largely untextured, and while they are fairly colorful, their simplicity makes them lack any sort of personality. This is backed by… no soundtrack at all. Yeah, this game is eerily quiet, with players only hearing the patter of their feet, a quack when they opt to “attack”, and a cartoony noise whenever they jump. But mostly, this game is strangely silent.
It’s not just the presentation that lacks polish and personality, the gameplay here is extremely rudimentary, and even that is done poorly in places. The camera hangs far too close to your character, you have virtually nothing you can do except walk around, jump, and quack, the hit detection is off at times, and the controls are pretty poor here, with this being one of those games that has you endlessly jumping if you hold down the jump button.
This is the Nintendo Switch, for goodness sake! There are plenty of great Platformers you can play here! Don’t waste your time or money with Ducky Quacky, a game that has almost nothing good going for it.
tl;dr – Ducky Quacky is a 3D Platformer where players control a duck. This game is rudimentary to the point of being unfinished, and does absolutely nothing to distinguish itself, make it worth playing, or even excuse its multiple flaws. Do not buy this game.
