Review:

Eggggg is a Platformer that’s… well, gross. Disgusting. Not for those with queasy stomachs… well, because it’s about a character who has perhaps the queasiest stomach of any videogame character ever made. This is a Platformer where the character’s “jumping” is actually him briefly propelling himself into the air using projectile vomit.

Yeah, this game doesn’t shy away from the weird or the disgusting.

This is all delivered through a cartoony presentation that calls to mind something like what you might have seen on Cartoon Network or Nickelodeon. It works well for the game, as much as anything could work for such an odd premise.

That’s not to say that the odd premise is all this game brings to the table. The game also touts a very unusual control method, likely due to this game’s legacy as an iOS release. Players control the game primarily using the left and right directional buttons – press a direction to start your character moving in that direction and he’ll keep heading that way until he bumps into something or you tell him to go the other way. Press in the direction he’s already walking and he’ll “jump”. It’s this basic premise that pushes how the game plays.

And that’s… a mixed bag, really. See, this game’s platforming is, in a sense, fairly standard and not especially interesting or challenging, or at least it wouldn’t be if players weren’t struggling with the odd control scheme. So you can look at this as a boring, uninteresting game made interesting through a unique control scheme… or a game that’s only interesting because of its odd control scheme.

I’ll leave it to you to decide if Eggggg is a dull Platformer made interesting by odd controls, or a Platformer with a awkward controls that take it from dull to frustrating. In the end, this is a Platformer that’s doing something odd and different with the controls, and that incorporates a grossout theme. If that sounds good to you, it might be worth a try. If not, there’s probably not much here for you.

tl;dr – Eggggg is a Platformer that features a vomit-spewing protagonist and makes use of an odd, simplified control scheme to shake up an otherwise fairly standard Platformer. It’s definitely not a game for everyone, but if the description appeals to you, you might want to give it a try.
