Review:

Embracelet is a Graphic Adventure released on multiple platforms in 2020, including the Nintendo Switch. It follows the story of a young man in Norway whose dying father gives him an unexpected gift and a quest of sorts when he hands his grandson a magical bracelet and asks him to return to the island he grew up, find where the bracelet came from, and return it.

The presentation here is good, with colorful 3D visuals in a simple stylized polygonal style that looks pleasant though not in any way impressive. These quaint visuals are paired with a subdued soundtrack with some light piano. The overall aesthetic is one of simple, peaceful beauty, and it really helps to set the tone of a largely laid-back and peaceful game.

As for the gameplay, this is pretty standard Graphic Adventure fare, with occasional puzzles thrown in that require smart use of the bracelet. There’s nothing terribly mind-boggling here, no weird “Sierra logic” (puzzles with odd solutions no sane person would think of on their own), though at times there are moments of “where am I supposed to go now?”. The game does make it clear that characters will respond to your actions, though it isn’t always clear which choices of yours are going to be truly impactful.

Overall, there’s not too much I have to say about Embracelet. This is a solid Graphic Adventure game with a nice, peaceful tone and setting. If you’re looking for something quiet and thoughtful to de-stress with, and in particular if you enjoy this genre, you’ll likely find this to be a nice, pleasant experience.

tl;dr – Embracelet is a Graphic Adventure about a young man who receives a magical bracelet and travels to a Norweigan island to find where it came from. This is a low-key and peaceful entry in the genre, and while it doesn’t do anything especially novel or exciting, it’s still a pleasant experience well worth a look for fans of the genre.
