Review:

Explosive Dinosaurs is a Party Game featuring cartoony dinosaurs in 40 various minigames. This game was released on PC in 2018 and ported to Nintendo Switch in 2020.

The presentation for this game is okay, but nothing special. Characters and backgrounds are depicted using hand-drawn 2D visuals without impressive animation, and backed by a forgettable energetic soundtrack. At the very least I credit this game for having a few cute references like more digitized visuals in a level that’s an homage to the classic “no internet detected” dinosaur minigame, but overall the presentation here is extremely forgettable.

The same is unfortunately true of the minigames. These minigames are simple and lacking nuance, with some games poorly explained to the extent that players will be spending a significant portion of the game itself figuring out what they need to do, and others so jarringly simple that you’ll spend less time playing them than waiting for them to start. Other games are just tedious or random.

I can see the appeal of a game like Exploding Dinosaurs. A nice, simple Party Game under $10 must have a lot of appeal for Nintendo Switch owners specifically. But even with such a low price tag, you can find better games to share with friends on the Nintendo Switch. Don’t bother with this one.

tl;dr – Explosive Dinosaurs is a Party Game featuring 40 minigames featuring cartoony dinosaurs. The minigames are shallow, uneven, and not very fun to play, and there’s just not much reason to buy this game over others that are available on the eShop. Skip it.
