Review:
Funny Bunny Adventures is a family-friendly Arcade-style game in the same vein as arcade classic QBert, but instead of playing a weird alien creature jumping on geometric tiles to change their color, players take the role of a purple bunny jumping on squares of dirt to plant and later harvest carrots. This game was released on mobile devices in 2013 and ported to Nintendo Switch in 2019.
In terms of presentation… this really bears the look and sound of a game designed for mobile devices, with dead-eyed cartoony 2D characters and isometric viewpoint, along with its annoying whimsical soundtrack, cartoony sound effects, and poorly-voiced introduction sequence. This game’s presentation may appeal to young kids, but everyone else is going to be repulsed by it.
The gameplay here is fairly okay at its core, having players dodge around enemies as they try to hit every tile, but there are a few problems. Namely, everything here moves annoyingly slowly, with your character taking agonizingly long just to get around and enemies not being very threatening as they slowly lope around too.
Also, I should mention that this game does give players the option to use touchscreen controls. However, the individual squares are so small that this method of control feels really imprecise and players are better off sticking with gamepad controls.
In the end, Funny Bunny Adventures is a passable Arcade-style game that may prove to be a decent distraction for young children, but older players will quickly tire of the slow pacing and low challenge level.
tl;dr – Funny Bunny Adventures is a family-friendly QBert-style Arcade game that really feels like the mobile port it is. It’s a passable game, but the slow pacing and off-putting presentation make it unlikely that anyone other than young children will enjoy it for very long.
