Review:
10 Second Run Returns isa challenging Platformer released on Nintendo Switch in 2018. This game is the follow-up to GO Series: 10 Second Run, which was released on the Nintendo DSi in 2010 via the DSiWare service. Much as that previous game did, this game’s premise is spelled out in the title – the game’s levels must all be completed within ten seconds or less.
The presentation in this game is extremely simple and unimpressive, with pretty much everything in the game being represented by simple single-color shapes on a white background, with players taking the role of a stick figure man. This is all backed by an extremely hectic synthesized soundtrack that I suppose does a good job of highlighting the game’s frantic pace, but it isn’t exactly memorable or endearing, just feeling like a wall of noise.
Much like the visuals, the gameplay here is extremely simple. You can jump, wall jump, and hold down a button to run, and that’s about it. The stages themselves have a decent variety of obstacles but there’s nothing too creative going on here. It’s just a simple, but difficult, Platformer.
I suppose, at only $5, this may provide a decent distraction, especially if you want to test your Platforming skills against some friends in the game’s multiplayer mode. However, I feel like there’s nothing particularly unique, creative, or inspired about this game. Apart from the 10-second gimmick, it is completely forgettable. If that still sounds like something you want to play, I suppose you might as well give it a try.
tl;dr – 10 Second Run Returns is a simple but challenging Platformer with the premise that each level must be completed in 10 seconds. There’s nothing particularly special or interesting here beyond that premise, but I suppose some may find this to be a decent time-waster.
