Review:

2in1 – Application Driver and Serial Killer / Sniper, alternately called 2in1 SerialKillerWithSniper&AppDriver (I’m guessing the folks behind this game don’t speak English as a primary language), is a game that was released on the Nintendo Switch in 2021 and features two separate games that make use of the same assets.

Here is what I thought of each of the games in this collection:

GameGenre# of PlayersGrade
Serial Killer With SniperArcade / First-Person Shooter1D-
tl;drSerial Killer With Sniper sets you in one of two locations on a rooftop overlooking people going about their daily lives, and you must use your sniper rifle to gun down as many as possible. I don’t even know where to begin with this one – terrible graphics, horrible gameplay-affecting framerates, ugly pop-in, people who don’t react to the dead bodies dropping around them… this game is a mess. On top of that, it’s as shallow as a puddle – just try to kill as many people as you can within a minute and a half. You don’t even need to reload. While there’s some visceral fun to be had here, it only lasts a few seconds before the inane nature of this game causes boredom to set in.
App DriverArcade / Driving Game1D-
tl;drThis game has you driving around a neighborhood trying to run over as many people as you can before time expires. There’s locations marked on your map to drive to, but nothing happens at these locations other than the location changing on your map. Once again, this is an extremely shallow game that may be fun for a few seconds, but then the complete lack of anything interesting to do sets in. And that’s if you can get past the terrible car controls.

Both of these games put you into the role of an unnamed psychopath looking to cause as much human death as possible in a short time frame, for reasons unknown. I suppose you could look at this as a very, very, very poor-man’s version of the rampage missions from the Grand Theft Auto series, except you’re limited to doing whichever activity you selected, the physics are terrible, nothing changes as you keep racking up a higher body count, the graphics are atrocious, the loading times are bad, the menus are clunky, the 1.4GB of space in your Nintendo Switch’s memory this game requires is absolutely absurd, this feels very much like two incomplete game concepts being sold as one game…

Look, I could keep complaining, but I’ll just make it simple – 2in1 – Application Driver and Serial Killer / Sniper is a pair of games that take a somewhat fun concept, strips down all nuance until it’s as shallow as possible, and then executes on this stripped-down idea so poorly that it destroys any fun that could have been had with the game. Even at its low $5 price tag, this is not worth it. This game should not have been sold in this state.

tl;dr – 2in1 – Application Driver and Serial Killer / Sniper presents players with two games that both have players trying to kill as many innocent people as possible. While there may have been some potential for chaotic fun here, that potential is killed by extremely shallow gameplay, poor performance, and the overwhelming feeling that this is two woefully incomplete concepts being sold as a game. Do not be fooled into buying this.
