Review:
3 in 1 – Logical Bundle, released on Nintendo Switch in 2022, is a Compilation of three games: the Unlimited Pattern Puzzle game History 2048, the Card Game Just Black Jack, and the Puzzle game Miniature – The Story Puzzle, all released previously on the Nintendo Switch at various times.
I have previously reviewed both of these games. Here is what I thought of each of the games in this collection:
| Game | Genre | # of Players | Grade |
|---|---|---|---|
| History 2048 | Unlimited Pattern Puzzle | 1 | C |
tl;drHistory 2048 is a version of the 2048 Puzzle game popularized on Smartphones a few years back. This version looks good and plays well enough, but the isometric view is less than ideal and screws up the controls, and it’s lacking the options and multiplayer modes of the similar and less-expensive 2048 Battles. | |||
| Just Black Jack | Card Game (Blackjack) | 1 | D- |
tl;drJust Black Jack is about as bare-bones a version of the classic card game as they come, but it can’t even do that much right, not only lacking features, but performing poorly, and inexplicably limiting the player’s ability to bet. On top of that, the cynical way this game has been priced on the eShop is really sleazy. Don’t be scammed into spending your money on this low-effort game. | |||
| Miniature – The Story Puzzle | Puzzle | 1 | C+ |
tl;drMiniature is a Puzzle game that challenges players to take a series of dioramas and place them in order to tell a story. It’s a good concept with a fantastic presentation, but terrible, confusing controls make it difficult to fully enjoy. | |||
In short, none of these games is truly great, and one of them is outright terrible. Just Black Jack is definitely the stinker of the bunch, being a broken, feature-poor version of the Card Game. The remaining two Puzzle games both have some decent gameplay, but also have issues, including control issues in both games. If you’re a Puzzle game fan, you may still get enjoyment out of these games, but only if you can look past their flaws.
After this, the question comes to one of value, and at $8, this Compilation is basically saving you $4 off the combined price of the three games, which ain’t bad. However, let’s not beat around the bush here – all three of these games regularly go on sale for $2 each (naturally intending to exploit the way the eShop’s algorithms work), with Just Black Jack having had its price increased to $3 just so it could look like a better deal when it goes on sale for $2 (ew, gross). While this might call into question the value of 3 in 1 – Logical Bundle, this bundle also appears to be regularly going on sale for $2, once again bringing the price down to $4 below the combined prices of the other games’ sale price, and a much better deal overall.
Of course, that assumes that you want to spend $2 for these three games combined. Should you? I would argue that Miniature – The Story Puzzle and History 2048 are decent enough that they’re well worth that price, even if Just Black Jack adds little to the value of this Compilation. If you’re a Puzzle game fan, that makes this collection worth picking up – just as long as you get it when it’s on sale.
tl;dr – 3 in 1 – Logical Bundle is a Compilation of History 2048, Just Black Jack, and Miniature – The Story Puzzle. Just Black Jack is a terrible version of the Card Game, but the other two games are decent Puzzle games that are reasonably enjoyable, though both have their flaws too. This bundle is a decent deal too, though it’s even more so if you get it on sale. At the low price of $2, it should be worth overlooking the flawed parts of this bundle to enjoy the decent Puzzle games within.
