Review:

3 in 1 – Multiplayer Bundle, released on Nintendo Switch in 2022, is a Compilation that includes the Futuristic Racing game Overlanders, the Party Game Multi Quiz, and the Compilation game Retro Game Pack. These games were all previously released on Nintendo Switch.

I have previously reviewed all of these games. Here is what I thought of each of the games in this collection:

GameGenre# of PlayersGrade
OverlandersFuturistic Racing1-5 Competitive (Online)B-
tl;drOverlanders is a futuristic racing game that plays a bit like the Star Wars: Podracer series. The core gameplay here is good, with an inspired “Monster Hunt” mode that does something refreshingly new for the genre. Unfortunately, the game has a serious lack of polish, and the lacking multiplayer options really hurt this game’s longevity.
Multi QuizParty Game1-8 Competitive (Local)C-
tl;drMulti Quiz is a Party Game that is, as the title indicates, also a Trivia Game. It works, but it’s also dreadfully boring and extremely lacking in features. Unless you want a game that’s just trivia with no frills or features, you’re better off skipping this one.
Retro Game PackCompilation1-2 Competitive (Local)C
tl;drRetro Game Pack is a Compilation that includes versions of Pong, Snake, and Tic-Tac-Toe. The presentation here is adorably suited to the game’s “retro” theme, though not everyone will appreciate it. Even fewer players will appreciate the terrible lack of options throughout this package. Those nostalgic for bygone days may still find something worthwhile here, but I think most will find this package lacking.

In short, Overlanders is the highlight here, with Retro Game Pack having some niche appeal, and Multi Quiz being functional but boring. It’s a strange choice of games to toss together too, as these are very different kinds of multiplayer games. Overlanders’ multiplayer is online-only while the other two feature only local multiplayer, and Retro Game Pack’s multiplayer isn’t especially noteworthy. Honestly, the “Multiplayer Bundle” title seems like kinda’ a reach to find anything these three games have in common, regardless of how much sense it makes.

The odd balance here is highlighted by the difference in the original price of these three games, with Overlanders clocking in at $25, almost twice the price of the other two games combined. As such, the $28 price for this bundle, technically saving players $12 off the price tag these games would add up to separately, kinda’ feels like “Overlanders plus a few other games for a few bucks more”.

Of course, the other element I have to mention here is that all of these games in question, including the bundle itself, regularly go on sale for $2. As such, if you’re looking to buy any of these games and willing to wait for a sale, you might as well get this bundle to snag all games for the same price you’d get any one of them on their own. It’s a pretty good deal… well, except for the fact that only one of these games is particularly worthwhile.

Still, Overlanders is a decent (if highly flawed) Futuristic Racing game, and I’d say it’s worth the few dollars extra to get the two additional games, despite them not being especially good and despite how little they have to do with one another. Or better yet, wait for a sale and it’s basically like getting the other two games for no added cost. In any case, I’d say the value of this bundle largely depends on whether or not you want to get Overlanders. If not, you might want to skip this one.

tl;dr – 3 in 1 – Multiplayer Bundle is a Compilation that includes Overlanders, Multi Quiz, and Retro Game Pack. Overlanders is the standout here, and also the reason this bundle’s regular price is as high as it is. Still, if you wait for one of this bundle’s regular $2 sales, it’s basically getting a decent racing game for cheap and two other games for no added cost. Not a bad deal, but don’t expect those additional games to add much value here.
